NO BOV's

Any of you that own a 1.8T engine should not install an BOV or blow off valve, the reason is audi uses a re-circulating design and if you purge the air to atmosphere the engine management will richen up the fuel system because its designed to see the recirculated air. You will experience poor fuel mileage, possible DTC's, and reduce engine life. Just thought i would share the info for current or future 1.8T owners.

Thats pretty much what i figured, you can run a BOV if you get the correct software for it but why waste your money, your not gaining anything.
If someone wants the whoosh sound they can install a cold air intake or just cut a huge freaking hole in their air box. ROFL

yeah the APS 50/50 is about the best thing for subies can hold up to 23psi i believe. youll run a little rich but not to the point when youll stall.

or you can crush your stock BPV

software?????????????????????????

all a recirculating bov is is a bov with a hose connector instaed of a horn, works wonders if your stock bov / bpv is made of plastic, or your runnign a high boost application. oh and most of the time an open loop BOV will cost you more than a closed loop bov / bpv. oh yea, and then by upgrading your bov / bpv your run a much less risk of boost leak / creep from your bov which increases turbo lag response essentially improving throttle reaction time and putting more power to your wheels quicker. ill agree with you that on a stock car it does nothing, and even at that, the .02psi that make it to your engine faster wont make a huge difference, but every little thing counts.

and putting a CAI or doing the "Free Air Mod" isnt going to make a woosh, especially on a turbo car, if anything it would be a sucking sound because the turbo can now suck mare air freely, instead of the restrictive oem setups. so i hope that last part was joking.

Yeah the last part i was pretty much joking, most people don't know the difference they just want to hear something cool.
As for the software, yeah its absolutely needed on an audi at least. If you don't have programming not to see recirculated air the engine will throw CEL's like you wouldn't believe. The stock Bosch DV's really do suck though and when you start boosting around 15 psi they tend to leak which is not ideal.
Now it is possible to run a hybrid DV which purges a slight amount of air to atmosphere but it still acts up with the stock engine management.
What i usually recommend on audiforums is to upgrade to a forge 007 valve which works wonders and you do get a slight sputter when letting of the throttle. I don't know exactly what the set up is on mitsubishi motors but im sure you can run a BOV but its probably not gonna act the way it should.
