As some of you may have been aware I have been trying to sort quite a few issues with my car.
Today after yet another trip to my mechanics we came to the hope that the ECU is causing my troubles. So tonight I decided to locate my ecu, pull it out and strip it down to see if there was any damage. What I found was a discrace to say the least. 1/ ECU was held in place with foam 2/ ECU was not earthed in any way but it was held in with cable ties 3/ Got it out to find that it has been repaired before but it was even noted on to that it was never tested 4/ Stripped ecu to find that there are a couple of cap's that have been replaced in a really dodgy way and there is a sub board which is suppose to be soldered to the main board but all the connection points are buggered and corroded. Honestly I'm not going to chance having it repaired and try to fix some other dodgy shops work. I just put it all back together, earthed it properly. I'm off to my mechanics tomorrow to get prices on new A/M ECU setup. Here are a couple of pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It is really getting to me the amount of dodgy work I have found so far done to this car.

Simply as nobody here knows these cars so they just wing it. But that work is just unprofessional!

I am going to talk with my EFI and Mechanic guys today to get some feedback from them. If they say fix what i got first then worry about the management side when I get into doing the engine work then that's the way I'll go.
After doing further research into how and why this happens I have found that the ECS (electronic controlled suspension) ecu is the cause. What the problem is that happens is the ECS ECU sends a junk signal through to the TPS which in turn sends that same junk signal to the engine ECU. As I don't have the ECS anymore in my car I'm going to look at removing the ECS ECU. This same issue and rectification has been performed on lots of cars in the US and here in AUS. One step at a time, it's just getting really frustrating to fix one issue to keep find another one but I'm convident that I can get this sorted. I'll keep you all posted. |

After closer inspection of the ECU today with my EFI guy yes there has been some work done to the ECU, yes it is a really ordinary job of it but the work done has no really issues.
He agreed that the workmanship of the install was complete crap but what i had done to rectify this was all good. Now with the ECU not the problem I'm going to look for this ECS ECU in the back and remove it. Hopefully that will sort out this issue. PS- just to make matters worse when I left work to go see them I found a patch of oil under the rear of my car :? Now that is another issue which I now have to find and fix. ![]() |
