parts from a ej20 or ej25 may fit the ej22, but most people either ditch the L. as they are just FWD and hunt down a 2001 Impreza which already has the 2.5l powerplant and AWD.

as with turboing an N/A motor you know that your going to have the supporting mods with it, such as injectors, pump, lines, and a good tune.

also swaps are very common in subarus, expensive but if done right youll have some head turners

such swaps can be very basic such as switching out a turbo from an WRX to the turbo of an STi. Tranny swaps are also common as the STi's have a 6speed gearbox.

theres a ton of support out there for subarus!

hope this opened you up to subarus a little bit more, and hope it didnt confuse you!

Thanks for the good info. Ive turbocharged a few cars before, a Lancer ES (which was a waste of my time...im sure it still was under 200HP). And a Tiburon.

But you said the L is FWD? Mine 99 is AWD

Lancer is a 2006. Returned it to stock and gave it to my wife and bought the Impreza :)

Uhm, wrong. 93-01 does have AWD, used to have a 93 Impreza L wagon, awd and 5spd;). Big thing with an L when doing a swap or turbo build up is they are very lightweight, especially if you don't have all the power features.
What year and model L do you have? You can do JDM, EDU, USDM, etc wrx to sti swaps complete engine, drivetrain, and interior (and some exterior stuff;)).

Too much to type for you, but swaps aren't as expensive as you think...especially if you do it yourself. So much info out there, pm me and I can help ya out more.

I have a 97 L which I found is about 5 pounds less than an RS, go figure. Did an engine swap from an 03 and still kept the interior. If you know what you are doing, its fairly straightforward, mostly a lot of reading wiring diagrams and matching wires.
