I just bought my car a few weeks ago and all it came with was a TAPE DECK of all things...I cant stand the radio either. Im not to big on the whole sound system thing, all I need is a cheap CD player what will work good. Nothing special. Does anyone know of a good relativly cheap CD player?

If I were you, I'd spring for one with an MP3 player or Sirius system so you don't have to haul around all that plastic. Some MP3 players are integrated to fit your tape player *gasp* but soooooooo ugly. Wal-mart *chuckle* probably has the cheapest unless you prefer to shop around at flea markets. If you want something installed for you, try Best Buy.

How cheap do you mean? If you mean college kid, I need $5 bucks for a pizza or maybe just 30 cents for a can of soup cheap, then you could go with a handheld MP3 and headphones....

My husband did that in our beater for years. :)

You can go to radio shack and get a tape adapter so you can attach a cd player to your car. Be sure to get an anti-skip version. It will work okay and it's very cheap. Gratz on the ride. You fixing it up in the future?

I have to check but I may know someone that may let them go for a bit less.
Does brand make a difference?

Those are perfect. Brands dont make a difference. Like I said, i just need to be able to play CD's not tapes!

Think I could put a stock STi CD player in? there on ebay from time to time for cheap..
