I love the STI, i like the look and the feel of it, but i do know that a stock evo will kick its @ss..

im partially biased to subarus! but i love EVO'S!!!!!! there great cars and and a good competition to the STi's

i think they both have thier pros and cons. im not gonna list all of them but ill list the ones that come off the top of my head

EVO pros: Quicker Steering Rack, Cast Iron Block (responds easier to power mods), recaro seats from factory....

EVO cons: cheap interior, not as refined, too harsh a ride for a daily driver (well not for me,....for some i have spoken to)


STi Pros: Boxer Rumble thanks to the ej25(usdm) or ej20(JDM), DCCD, more refined interior, BBS rims from factory, responds well to suspension mods (from my expierence i could be wrong)

STi cons: 04's had no radios, USDM seats were designed for the non skinny people, power mods are harder to achieve due to the aluminum block,



my pet peeve about how these cars are treated is when they are constantly drag raced and how some say they are overratted because there slow. IMO these cars were designed for tracks and Canyons were you can feel the g's on every turn!!!

yeah they were an option but the most dealers added it before they sold it and put it on the sticker price. at least that was my expierence when i was first looking.

Honestly they both have their +'s and -'s, I have owned 2 subaru's so I would go for a 3rd and then maybe an Evo for fun.

both great cars, but if refinement is what ur looking for buy an M3, the evo outshines the sti in performance and handling and thats why i bought one

too each of their own. i personally gonna choose evo because i drive one =) i know definately in the straights sti's are fast but evo does handle better...

I thought the EVO was faster in the straights? I saw a topgear vid where they drag raced a EVO vs STi vs Audi at the same time and the EVO beat them by ATLEAST 8 car lengths. It was an MR Edition though...but the WRX was an STi..

my WRX beat an evo MR.. granted from a 70mph roll.. and only 2 of the 5 times.. by half a car length.. BUT none the less. haha

Basically this pole is going to tell us how many Evo owners and how many STi owners we have.. been beaten to death! haha each side as their arguments... mod one or the other.. which is what most people will do with either of these cars.. and the whole scenario changes each time.

If your talking about what I think your talking about. It was the Evolution 8 MR FQ400 package that is available in Europe and had 400HP. That is why the Evo>STI.

I chose the Evolution due to my own opinion.

The STi. I love the DCCD and the handling.

Not to be biased, but Subaru is considerend # 2 in the biz....of AWD that is.

If someone gave me and EVO of course I'd take it! I really love both cars but I am partial to Subarus. If I get a chance to buy an Evo I would definitely try it... why not? :)

I like both alot. I drive a 06 WRX. I think If I was gonna trade my car in (which I'm not) I would like to try out an EVO for a while.

I'm gonna go with the Subaru. Due to the fact that their more reliable IMO. I have seen quite a few Evos' with major tranny and transfer case problems within the first 10-15K miles. Haven't heard or seen any major problems with the Sube's.

I test drove both..I bought the STi. My vote for STi

Iv'e never driven either, but Id'e prefer the EVO! :)

I personally like the way the evo looks better, i like the way the subaru sounds better, they both go balls fast stock but the subaru gets the win CUZ THERE AIN'T NO EVOS IN CANADA @#$%......

i love both cars,IMO, i think the evo looks alot better,but the evo cant comapre to how sexy that boxer engine sounds,and its interior is much more refined. like it's been said before,both have they're pros and cons.

i love evos and subies equally! they are both freaking awesome machines!!

i voted evo not only becuase i have one, but because ive had experiance with both. the STI feels loose compared to the evo, sure it sounds outstanding, but the evo outshines the STI in pretty much every aspect (except for the interior, but even then i dont mind). I daily drive my evo, and i love the road hugging feeling it gives me, not one time has gone by where i thought my car was much too rough.

Love both cars but the evo is just the better car.

I totally disagree that an Evo will "kick an STi's/STI's ass." They're both great cars, and handle nearly the same stock for stock, but in different ways. Consider the Evo a scalpel, while the STi/STI is more of a steak knife, if you will. They'll both slice n' dice, but the Evo makes the finer cuts.

While I'll give the handling advantage to the Evo on most road surfaces, I give the acceleration advantage to the STi/STI. Once modding, he/she who has the most money is he/she who is going to win in the end.

Threads like this one really aren't accurate, but more of a popularity contest. Those with Evos are going to say the Evo is better, while those with STis/STIs are going to say the STi/STI is better. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist for anyone to guess which one I favor. I love both, the STi/STI and the Evo, and if I had to make a decision between the two again, I'd still have a blue/gold STi/STI sitting in front of my home.

It's not as if pre-'07 cars didn't cause problems for the Evo. If I can get my buddy who owns the IX MR in my photos to join, ask him what sorts of problems they can cause. :)
