After looking a few very disappointing 1g stealth tt's, I found it in the ajc cars ad (mislisted as a 96),
drove 3 hours to look at it, and made a deal that day. it was only listed for about 10 hours-car has
~35k on new factory engine, perfect exterior/interior. The last oil change was done 3000 miles ago...

When I came home on leave from Iraq I started looking for a car, I knew I wanted something turbo, I found a 94 RX-7 TT and a 93 3000GT VR-4, to be honest my first choice was the RX-7 I have been around rotary engines since I was a baby because of my dad so it was a logical choice. But the girl selling it traded it in on a SUV the day i was suppose to go look at it. So that same day I went and looked at the VR-4, I didnt know ANYTHING about the car, but fell in love with it. i dont think i will ever get rid of it.

I was looking to buy a big fuel guzzling V8. I had even test driven a few and loved them. The way they rev! :) Then I was looking thru a trading post, and off to one side was a little advert, boxed up something like this;
1993 Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo
Pearl White, 5 speed, V6 3.0 litre, low original kays etc etc....
It was all boxed up and I looked at the add thinking, "Hmmm, couldn't hurt to just driver her. I had never driven a turbo car vefore. But let me tell you, once I had driven her, I didn't want to get out! I had to wait a week as another guy got dibbs, but his partner bailed on him at the last minute. The guy called me and said, you still want this? I had to calm myself as the first thing I wanted to scream was "Oh hell fucking yes!" I was like, "oh, is it still for sale" I was just looking around. I might come have another look if that's ok. Hows tomorrow?" lol..... I cut my holiday in Canberra short and did the Harry back to Sydney and bought it the very next day!

I always loved the 3S but was never able to afford it when new. My friend got a good deal back in 94 for a 91 TT with 24K on the clock. He owned it for 10 years or so and always took good care of it. Because of personal reasons, he needed to sell it. I didn't know at the time but while talking to him on the phone, I mentioned that if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know first. He asked me to make an offer, which I did and now everything is just history.
I purchased her in Nov 2005 with 53K, the body was in near excellent condition except for some oxidationon the spoiler and a few bearly noticeable dings.

When the 3000GT's hit Australia, they were $110,000! They were NOT badged as the VR4. Just a 3000GT. No wonder they are rare as hell here. Who's going to pay that amount for a heavy assed Japanese import? Nothing against the Jap cars, but for that much, by a Porsche or some other German technology!

years ago I went shopping for a specific car, 2nd gen Stealth TT. Wanted a grand touring car, the Shadow was too small for me anymore, my F-150 got bad gas milage, I didn't want another thunderbird supercoupe, the 300M special broke another tranny, import costs of the Holden Monaro was more than the car cost (this was before Lutz at GM even thought of importing it), and nothing new looks good anymore. Found a dealer that knew where one is at my price. Was a trade-in for a Mercedes benz by an older woman in Chicago, shipped it to STL, and I bought it after passing tech.
Best kept used car I ever bought....turbos had NO shaft play, no seat wear, no lifter tick, perfect tranny, ect. Never broke down on me, most reliable car I ever owned....
If I could stop modding...

heres my long story... one of my cousins got married the summer before my freshman year of college. i flew out to Ohio for her wedding. while i was out there i stopped by her brothers house and he showed me his new toy, a 2001 corvette z-06. i was always and still am a huge corvette fan. at the time i had my pos honda and was really looking to saving up and buying some sort of a sports car. the summer after my freshman year i worked 50 hour weeks on a golf course so i could save as much money as possible. i had about 8 grand to spend on a car and i wanted a car at that very moment. i started looking into what i wanted. didnt care if it was jap, European, or American, just had too have two doors and be fast. i started looking around. naturally my first choice was a corvette, but the only vettes i could afford were beat to hell. so i looked into porches, and there were a few turbo 944's i had found and they were fun but insurance was going to be way too much. looked at a couple of mustangs, camaros, firebirds, etc. but none of them gave me the same thrill i had in my cousins vette. yea the american cars were quick, but they were not luxurious at all and most of the time were pretty roughed up. i was with a friend one afternoon runnign out to check on an rx7, we never found the rx7 and he suggested going to talk to a buddy of his who had just bought a vr-4 and knew alot about "higher end" imports. he showed me his car, i always thought they were sexy to look at, but knew they were fat ladys. he let me sit in it, it was sooooo comfortable, everything just conformed to me. he took me for a ride in it, his was pushing 400bhp at the time. this thing was fast. i asked how much all his mods cost him, just under 1500$. at that moment i was in love. he offered to sell his to me for 8300$. seeing as how he owned another one with a junk motor and a honda s2000, he said hed use the money from selling this one to fix the other. i was so happy. few days before i was going to buy it from him, his ecu went, he replaced it with the one from his broken vr-4, then that one went, and it was going to take a month for a new ecu to get in from japan. and he wanted an extra 1000 for it now. so in my disappointment i logged onto autotrader and did a quick search, found on 18 miles away, gave the kid a call, and skipped dinner to go look at it. gave the kid 200 to hold it for me and, went back 2 days later with 7000$ and drove it home with me. happiest day ever. 3 months later the engine blew, and its been about a year in the making but my engine project is coming close to completion.
