I have a 01 Impreza RS with a VF39 Turbo. I have a major air intake issue and need assistants. The only air intake i could find compatible is the short ram which sits too close to the engine and sucks in hot air. I custom built a heat box but i think i could just simply buy something that works better then what i made. Any suggestions??

Maybe just find a good exhaust shop(one who actually can do nice bends) or somthing and tell them you need some intake pipes made and show them where you want the filter to sit, maybe in the fender or somthing?

Yeah.. I agree with Joe.. get a pic up so we can take a look at exactly how much "hot" air is coming in.. cause then again.. you shouldn't be TOO worried about the intake temp cause it's gonna be goin threw that turbo thats moving several hundred thousand RPM's which is superrr hot... do you have one of those RAM air scoops that come off the WRX? if you want I guess you could throw one of those on if you think that might help..
I'm sure you can cut away from it so it doesn't go right into the fender wall and you could redirect it a bit towards your intake with little bit of work. I saw people selling them for about $25 shipped on NASIOC... ;-) Last edited by Marc5000; 09-16-2006 at 01:30 PM.. |

just go buy the kit from weapon R with the universal tubing and route it into your fender... Cold Air intakes really dont make a big difference in a Turbo'd car like they would in an NA car so the gains wouldnt be that significant... This said because no matter if you have a CAI or a SRI the turbo will heat up the air temps before it gets to the intercooler anyway... so the gains would probably be the same or maybe a couple HP here and there. Just some FYI
